The OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation is committed to eliminating uncorrected poor vision in a generation by leveraging impact philanthropy, strategic partnerships, and advocacy to create sustainable access to vision care

 

Uncorrected poor vision affects 1 in 3 people globally, with many individuals lacking access to proper vision care and awareness. The Foundation collaborates with governments, NGOs, healthcare professionals, and private sector partners to provide free eye screenings, vision education, and spectacles to underserved communities.

 

As an Optometry Intern, you will support community vision care initiatives across Singapore and Southeast Asia while gaining hands-on exposure in vision screening, outreach coordination, and patient engagement.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND RELATED ACTIVITIES:

Community Vision Screening Support

· Assist in conducting basic vision screenings during community outreach programs, charitable clinics, and activation events.

· Support optometrists and volunteers in patient flow management, visual acuity testing, and spectacle dispensing activities.

· Educate beneficiaries on the importance of eye health, proper spectacle usage, and vision care awareness.

· Help prepare and maintain screening equipment and event materials before and after events.

Volunteer & Outreach Coordination

· Support the planning and execution of Foundation activities such as vision screening events, employee volunteering programs, and awareness campaigns.

· Assist with volunteer coordination, registration, and event logistics during outreach activities.

· Help document outreach impact through photos, beneficiary stories, and event reporting.

Administrative & Program Support

· Assist the Foundation team with data entry, beneficiary tracking, and reporting of screening outcomes.

· Support coordination with partner organizations, schools, nursing homes, and community centres.

· Contribute ideas to improve community engagement and outreach effectiveness.

 

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

· Currently pursuing a Diploma in Optometry or related healthcare discipline.

· Passionate about community service and improving access to vision care.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact comfortably with beneficiaries from diverse backgrounds.

· Willing to support outreach events, screenings, and volunteer activities.

· Responsible, proactive, and able to work independently as well as in a team environment.

· Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

· Experience in volunteering, healthcare outreach, or community engagement is an advantage.
