Requirements:
- Education: Licensed Vocational Nurse
- Experience: Experience in medical office or clinic setting preferred.
- Physical and Mental Requirements: Duties of the position require intermittent walking, sitting, and standing. Some bending, stooping, and reaching is required with the lifting of items up to a weight of 50 pounds. Occasional heavy lifting when moving or supporting patients who may suddenly become weak or helpless.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Direct patient flow to and from exam rooms.
- Take and record vital signs, current complaint, and history.
- Recheck all information sheets for completeness and accuracy.
- Assist the provider in the exam/ treatment of patient, including injections, immunizations, and other procedures by physician order or standing order.
- May preform in- clinic lab tests or draw blood for outside laboratory tests.
- Provide patient education as directed by provider.
- Document all patient contact information.
- Prepare exam rooms and instruments as appropriate to anticipated utilization including cleaning and sterilizing of instruments.
- File reports in charts.
- Patient referrals to providers, as necessary.
- Processing medication refill requests
- Order and maintain medical supplies and equipment.
- Communicate with patients by phone, including screening phone calls for providers, answering patient questions to his/her ability, calling patients as needed fir recheck or with lab results, and documenting all communication in the chart.
- Maintain the clinics inventory of drugs and biologicals in keeping with the Clinical Operational Procedures.
- Any other duties as assigned by Clinic Manager, Clinic’s Clinical Coordinator, and/or the provider supervising.
Job Qualifications
- Maintains confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis.
- Provides service direct to patients while maintaining a positive patient relations atmosphere.
- Interacts with patients, family members, medical staff members, and other department managers on a continuous basis.
- Conducts patient satisfaction surveys as required.
- Follows safety guidelines and infection control policies for the hospital district.
- Maintains licensure and certifications.
