INTERNAL/EXTERNAL JOB POSTING
The following position is available for the 2026-2027 school year.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- As partners in the instructional process, paraprofessionals who work in programs supported with Title I funds must meet one of the following requirements:
- High school diploma, and completion of at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (equal to 60 semester hours); or an associate's degree (or higher); or
- Meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate, through a formal state or local academic assessment such as the ETS Parapro Assessment)
- Knowledge of culturally responsive practices and commitment to an inclusive learning environment.
- Experience working in a setting dealing directly with young children.
- Demonstrated ability to relate with children
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Competency in oral and written communications. Proficiency in written communications must be demonstrated.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- Post secondary course work with concentration in child development or related area
- Completion of First Aid, CPR, Behavior Management and Physical Intervention Skills
- Ability to work with students having special needs and/or aggressive behaviors.
Demonstrate an understanding, patient and receptive attitude toward students over varied age groups and varied disabilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports students throughout the school day including during recess and lunch.
- Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children in order to meet their physical, emotional, social and intellectual needs.
- Assist in implementing the daily program of the building
- Encourage family involvement by making parents feel comfortable and welcome in the classroom
- Organize materials as needed for classroom projects.
- Participate in professional development as directed by the principal.
- Supervise kindergarten and other students during the lunch period.
- Interact, initiate and encourage students to participate in activities.
- Other duties as assigned by principal.

WAGES AND BENEFITS
This is a 7.25 hour/day position on student contact days with salary and benefits as outlined in the Agreementbetween the Mt. Pleasant Support Personnel Association and The Mt. Pleasant Board of Education.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions established in the Agreement betweenthe Mt. Pleasant Support Personnel Association and the Mt. Pleasant Board of Education.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students. staff and the community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
