Job Description
About the role:
What You’ll Do:
-
Own the end-to-end logistics process across the US and Canada, making sharp, well-reasoned decisions to keep orders on track across quality, speed, fill rate, communication, and cost.
-
Lead value engineering initiatives on transport, identifying structural opportunities to improve order profitability and delivery performance at scale - not just one shipment at a time.
-
Negotiate with nurseries and transport partners at a senior level, securing advantageous terms while deepening the strategic relationships that keep our supply chain resilient.
-
Manage a high volume of active orders simultaneously with precision — following up diligently, anticipating problems before they escalate, and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks.
-
Communicate proactively with upper management: surface risks and wins early, escalate issues with full context, and drive resolution rather than waiting for direction.
-
Resolve post-order issues thoroughly and systemically - diagnosing root causes, implementing corrective action, and closing the loop so problems don't recur.
-
Mentor and develop junior logistics specialists - sharing your expertise, raising the team's standards, and stepping in as an operational lead when upper management needs support.
-
Drive process improvement across the logistics function - identifying efficiency gaps, proposing data-informed solutions, and helping implement changes that protect revenue and scale well.
-
Support senior leadership with strategic logistics initiatives and ad hoc priorities as they arise.
What You’ll Need:
- 4-6+ years of proven experience in logistics, supply chain, or transportation management, with a clear track record of owning outcomes and exceeding targets independently.
- Hands-on experience booking, managing, and negotiating with trucking and freight carriers.
- Exposure to CRM or TMS platforms and able to adopt new operational tools.
- A sharp, proactive problem-solver - you identify issues before they surface, make decisions with incomplete information, and act without waiting to be told.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail: you follow up, follow through, and keep complex workflows moving across multiple orders simultaneously.
- Strong negotiation skills and stakeholder communication - you can influence up, down, and across an organization, and you do it with clarity and confidence.
- Demonstrated ability to lead informally - mentoring junior colleagues, setting standards, and elevating the people around you without a formal management title.
- Highly self-directed and reliable, with the maturity to manage your own workload while contributing to a fast-moving collaborative team.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets and proficient across the full Microsoft Office Suite or Google Workspace.
- Fluency in English is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent experience.
-
Deep familiarity with cross-border (US/Canada) logistics, customs brokerage, and import/export compliance.
-
Background in the landscaping, horticulture, or wholesale plant materials industry.
-
Proven experience formally or informally mentoring junior team members in a logistics or supply chain environment.
