Responsibilities:
To support peatland research activities related to carbon and water cycling, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and land management, contributing to scientific understanding and sustainability objectives.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Agricultural Science, Forestry, Soil Science, Geography, or related disciplines (Master’s degree preferred)
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- 1–3 years of experience in environmental science, forestry, agriculture, or related fields, preferably involving field data collection and environmental monitoring
- Familiarity with environmental instruments and sampling methods (e.g., soil, water, or greenhouse gas measurements)
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment and procedures for environmental sample processing is an advantage
- Experience in handling environmental data, with strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Experience in report writing and documentation of research activities is preferred
- Experience working in a collaborative, team-based environment
- Good communication skills in English (written and verbal)
- Willingness to work in field conditions, including remote peatland and plantation sites
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE:
- Basic understanding of peatland ecosystems, including carbon and water cycling processes
- Knowledge of environmental monitoring and sampling techniques for soil, water, and greenhouse gas measurements
- Knowledge of data analysis and processing tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, R, MATLAB or similar)
- Basic awareness of peatland management practices
