About the role

You will be part of the small Retrocession unit based in Zurich, working closely with the global Middle Office as well as the Claims Management and Underwriting teams of MS Reinsurance. In this role, you will take on responsibilities across each step of the end-to-end life cycle of a retrocession contract, from pre-placement security checks and onboarding through to commutation.

Your responsibilities

  • Providing operational support to Outwards Underwriting teams and to successfully execute the terms and conditions of the in-force contracts

  • Retrocession contract set up and input, including retrocessionaire security rating, exposure analysis, and partner onboarding.

  • Non-Proportional Instalment Premium calculation, recording, and execution

  • Non-Proportional Claim Recovery and Reinstatement Premium reviews, calculation, and recording within SICS.

  • Proportional retrocession account production including analysis, calculations, statement production, broker submissions, and all related credit control functions

  • Quarterly internal and external reporting for stakeholders and risk management activities

  • Reviewing, analysing, and cleaning of legacy data issues

  • Work to constantly challenge and improve existing processes and controls and to bring more automation into workflow processes.

  • Active communication with brokers and / or retrocessionaires, building relationships, query management and resolution and improving the customer experience.

  • Close cooperation and information exchange with broader Middle Office, Underwriting, Claims Management and other support and downstream customers

  • Actively manage assigned broker and retrocessionaire client’s portfolio including credit control functions

  • Actively participate in various internal projects designed to improve efficiency/automation of existing workflow tools and existing reinsurance administration system (SICS)

Your profile

  • Three to five years of experience, as a minimum, in Reinsurance Technical Accounting, Claim Recovery and related Credit Control (payables and receivables) tasks, ideally and preferably in the Retrocession area.

  • Good understanding of Reinsurance and in particular, Retrocession contracts, terms, and conditions

  • Sound command of English (written, spoken). Additional languages are welcome.

  • Elevated level of proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerBI

  • Flair for numbers, excellent analytical skills, and experience in reporting

  • A keen interest of AI and bringing new technologies and ideas into the workplace.

  • You are happy to be part of a small team and take on challenges and show initiative.

  • Familiarity with SICS is a massive advantage.

  • Ability to set priorities towards client service.

  • You call yourself an open-minded, initiative-taking and a positive person with a roll-up-the-sleeves attitude and high self-motivation.
