Eaton’s IS AER MSD division is currently seeking a Continuous Improvement Manager. This role is based at the Orchard Park, NY facility. Relocation assistance will be provided to candidates within the hiring country. 

The expected annual salary range for this role is $113000 - $165000 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you’ll do:

Eaton’s Mission Systems Division - Orchard Park, NY Plant is currently seeking a Continuous Improvement Manager.  This role will report directly to the Plant Manager and be responsible for planning, developing and directing a long-term strategy for the deployment of a best practice lean management system across the operation utilizing the Eaton Lean and Six Sigma (ELSS) process. The CI Manager will provide leadership and coaching to the entire site team to ensure the successful deployment of the CI framework, driving focus on standardized processes, tools and procedures to reduce process variation and achieve improvements in factory margin through cost out, product delivery performance, employee safety and reductions in product/process variation.  

Job Responsibilities:

• Act as the on-site Eaton Lean System / Six Sigma expert, trainer and mentor. Drives the development of future state plans, manufacturing strategies, cross-functional processes, and the establishment of uniform policies and procedures. 

• Lead the development and implementation of the site Continuous Improvement Program; define actions and coordinate cross-functional activities.   Also, provide Lean and Six Sigma support across the organization to drive short- and long- term business improvements.

• Utilize Continuous Improvement tools to eliminate waste, driving customer satisfaction, cost reduction, and improved working capital performance.

• Work with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, finance and marketing to identify Lean, Constraint Management and Six Sigma tool application opportunities as input to the profit plan and strategic planning processes.

• Monitor overall plant performance toward plant and division objectives for Cost Out activities, including sourcing, design engineering and labor productivity activities.  Works with ELSS, VAVE, OpA and ProLaunch champions to drive improvements to meet profit plan and strategic plan initiatives

• Support and provides guidance to the VSM teams to ensure all A3 actions / active bursts meet business case needs, have established plans to meet completion timelines in the business case and have identified and are monitoring progress of key metrics from the business case.

• Facilitate kaizen/RIE and other lean events as required, especially for more advanced applications of ELSS tools or as part of training new tool facilitators.

• Support and participate in the Gemba Walk process by developing the schedule and tracking actions for advancement.  Track and communicate progress of Continuous improvement deployment through the division and region and interact with other plant Leaders to share best practices.

• Providing support to the Division CI Manager, along with supporting other functional leaders in the development and deployment of continuous improvement tools and processes.

• Proactively develops and drives the Continuous Improvement policies, practices and procedures for the Orchard Park and Westminster Plant. This would include, EBS implementation, process improvement strategies, productivity initiatives and other programs leading to significant improvements in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and overall customer satisfaction.

• Participates as a key member of the leadership team.  Contributes to business strategy development and operational execution of business plans and takes ownership over the HK process.  Helps to create the future state as it relates to shortened value streams/integrated product teams, manufacturing strategies, cross-functional processes, and the establishment of uniform policies and procedures

• Partner with site leaders to develop Lean Coordinator and Six Sigma talent throughout the operation, as well as mentoring and assisting in career management of these individuals.

• Provides leadership and coaching to direct reports to ensure proactive deployment of CI programs and initiatives to support the business strategies and plans.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution + Minimum of three (4) years’ experience in a Manufacturing or Operations Environment. OR Associates Degree + Minimum (6) year's experience in a Manufacturing or Operations Environment
• Minimum of two (2) years experience with Lean, Continuous Improvement or Operational Excellence.
• Demonstrated ability to influence the directions and attainment of objectives without having direct control over resources and across many functions.
• Knowledge of financial concepts and techniques utilized to establish value propositions of operational change.

Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Business or Engineering.
• Six Sigma Blak Belt Certification
• Two (2) years experience with quality systems
