
Senior Quality Technician
Job Description
Summary
A Senior Quality Technician is responsible for receiving inspection of machined, fabricated, and composite components with strong focus on hands-on dimensional inspection such as using Faro Arm (portable CMM) and/ or CMM systems to make sure they meet company requirements. Their duties include measuring objects compared to their intended physical specifications, running quality tests, identifying defects, creating nonconformances, and managing the defective parts via a Material Review Board (MRB) process.
The ideal candidate has direct experience inspecting complex machined parts and ensuring compliance with aerospace standards such as AS9102 and AS9100.
Responsibilities
- Perform receiving/incoming inspection of machined, fabricated, and composite components.
- Maintain quality standards for products a company produces.
- Works closely with Quality Engineer to perform needed inspections for control plans.
- Interpret complex engineering drawings, including GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and specifications to ensure that operations meet production standards.
- Conduct dimensional inspection using Faro Arm (portable CMM) and/or CMM systems.
- Generate detailed inspection reports using metrology software (e.g., CAM2, PolyWorks)
- Using tools such as micrometer, screw gauges, calipers, scales, etc. to measure products
- Removing products that don’t meet production standards.
- Accepting or rejecting finished products and discussing inspection results with the production team
- Performing ADHOC inspections for R&D team
- Auditing of processes and procedures
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in aerospace or high-precision manufacturing inspection.
- Hands-on experience with Faro Arm (portable CMM) or similar metrology systems.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline
- Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint interpretation
- Experience with receiving/incoming inspection workflows
- Proficiency with inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Ability to influence others to follow rules and regulations
- Strong leadership skills and teamwork mentality
- Verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CMM operation and/or programming
- Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems
- Experience with PolyWorks, CAM2, or similar metrology software
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Epicor)
- Metrology experience
