Job Description
This classification level performs administrative and managerial work under the administrative direction of the presiding county judge, in the operation of a small and mid-sized county court with a total annual caseload of 3,500 or less. Responsibilities may include administrative support such as planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and supervising the administrative activities of the court and limited judicial functions involving non-contested matters as assigned by the presiding county judge. Assigns, supervises, and reviews the work of staff clerical and administrative staff.

Salary:
A Clerk Magistrate I‘s salary range is $57,441.71 - $69,986.97.
Effective July 1st
After probation period is completed, the permanent wage will increase at least 2.5% for new employees starting at the Hiring Rate.
Pay rate may be commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints, if approved.
Job Duties
1. Administers and provides oversight of court operations, which includes planning, organizing, administering, and evaluating court administrative processes and procedures; ensures compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, codes, and/or standards.
2. Supervises staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
3. Evaluates efficiency of the court's administrative functions and investigates procedural changes; prepares recommendations to the court.
4. Administers budget of the court; oversees expenditures and budgetary items ensuring all information is accessible for audit; maintains all records.
5. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Requirements/Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's Degree in judicial, public, or business administration or a related field; and 3 years of progressively responsible experience in court administration or another business setting, including some supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.

Physical Requirements:
Positions in this class work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required, not to exceed 20 LBS
