Field Technician - PSS
Location: Remote US
Base Salary Rate: $65,432 - $76,979 per year
Job type: Full-time position
About This Role
We are seeking a Field Technician dedicated to commissioning and quality assurance activities to support installation partners and ensure systems meet all functional, code, and documentation requirements. This role ensures all installed systems are properly programmed, tested, documented, and ready for acceptance. You will validate installation quality, identify deficiencies, and support resolution prior to project closeout.
Key Responsibilities
Perform system commissioning, programming verification, and functional testing of fire alarm systems (Edwards/EST preferred)
Execute full device and system-level testing, including network communication and integration points
Conduct quality control inspections to verify installation meets drawings, specifications, and code requirements
Identify, document, and track deficiencies, punch list items, and incomplete work
Work directly with installation contractors to resolve issues and retest systems
Support acceptance testing and AHJ-related coordination as required
Ensure all required documentation is complete (test reports, device lists, as-builts, checklists)
Validate system readiness for project turnover and closeout
Report status, risks, and issues to Project Management
Willingness to travel (80%+ depending on project needs)
Basic Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
6+ years’ experience in fire alarm system installations, inspections, and troubleshooting
Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with major fire alarm manufactures systems (Edwards systems preferred)
NICET 1 or greater (or working toward certification)
Experience performing Fire alarm test and inspections and new system installation commissioning on commercial projects
Strong understanding of codes and testing requirements (NFPA 72 knowledge preferred)
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, shop drawings, and risers diagrams.
Strong troubleshooting and system verification skills
Detail-oriented with a heavy focus on documentation accuracy
Ability to identify installation deficiencies and enforce standards
Strong communication skills
Organized and process-driven
