What will you be doing!
- Supporting the Manager, Regulatory Affairs by helping to coordinate licensing across CRL and between CRL and other CNL divisions.
- Providing support to assigned Designated Representative of the Licensee (DROLs) in the Safety and Control Areas and/or facilities.
- Assisting in the preparation of the annual report.
- Preparing and reviewing licensing correspondence.
- Preparing licensing protocols, progress reports and other licensing submissions as required.
- Drafting and reviewing licensing procedures and processes as required.
- Maintaining a schedule of all licensing activities for CRL and CNL.
- Assisting in preparations for CNSC Commission hearings and meetings.
- Drafting and reviewing responses to CNSC questions.
- Drafting and reviewing presentations for the CNSC.
- Tracking and managing regulatory commitments for CRL and CNL.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
- Education
- Bachelor's (Honours) or Master's or PHD in Engineering or Science from a university of recognized standing; OR membership in an engineering or scientific professional organization authorized by statute to establish qualification for membership in that organization.
- Experience
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a nuclear operations environment, resulting in a sound technical knowledge of regulatory interactions with the CNSC.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of the Nuclear Safety and Control Act and the associated regulatory and environmental assessment processes, and a working knowledge of the Impact Assessment Act, are essential.
- Well-developed program knowledge in at least 6 of the 14 Safety and Control Areas.
- Demonstrated strong project management skills.
- Ability to interact with multiple people and manage the input from several projects in an organized manner.
- Ability to work in an environment where tight deadlines are frequent, including document preparation, review and submission.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions:
- Working schedule: Five (5) days per week, seven and a half (7.5) hours per day for a thirty-seven and a half (37.5) hour work week.

Location: Hybrid Onsite Eligible
CNL works with employees across our Canadian locations to enable remote work when possible. This role requires that the majority of time worked be at CNL’s Chalk River Laboratory site while also providing opportunities to work remotely, where possible, if desired by the employee.
Please note: This is a hybrid position, with a combination of remote work and onsite presence at our Chalk River Laboratory, Ontario.
