POSITION SPECIFICS

Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking a candidate to fill the role of Athletic Trainer with primary sport responsibility for Baseball. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with coordination and delivery of comprehensive athletic training and sports medicine services for assigned student athletes. Scheduling, organization, and completion of onboarding and exit physicals. Attend (and transport) student athletes to medical appointments when medically necessary. Provide day-to-day medical care, practice and event coverage and travel to away contests.
  • Serve as member of Sports Performance Team for collaborative development and implementation of comprehensive injury prevention, Return to Play and performance enhancement programs.
  • Documentation of proper medical records in accordance with all governmental and university guidelines. Assist with policy and procedure development and updates. Assist with maintaining athletic training facility and inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Participate in staff meetings and on departmental committees or working groups as requested.
  • Supervise athletic training students as a preceptor as assigned.
  • Mentor other staff members and assist with cross coverage when needed or defined by supervisor.
  • Physical effort required for practice/game preparation and during emergency care management and rehabilitation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

If filled as Athletic Trainer - Advanced Professional, this position requires: Master's Degree 3+ years of relevant experience Required Certifications: Licensed Athletic Trainer - Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) - National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification - American Red Cross, American Heart Association or other accredited organization Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certification - American Red Cross, American Heart Association or other accredited organization If filled as Athletic Trainer - Intermediate Professional, this position requires: Master's Degree 1+ years of relevant experience Required Certifications: Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certification - American Red Cross, American Heart Association or other accredited organization Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification - American Red Cross, American Heart Association or other accredited organization Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) - National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification Licensed Athletic Trainer - Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine

 

 

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

 

 

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $42,100.00 - $67,300.00.
