WSP is currently initiating a search for a Mechanical Engineer – Buildings to join our Property & Buildings team in Seattle, WA.

Be involved in projects that support innovative and sustainable building design across commercial, healthcare, institutional, and industrial sectors. Your Impact

  • Perform professional mechanical engineering work supporting building systems design and construction projects
  • Collect, compile, and analyze data from site investigations, surveys, blueprints, schematics, and technical reports for project development
  • Assist with the design, planning, and integration of mechanical systems including HVAC, air distribution, hydronic, and plumbing systems [
  • Support load calculations, system sizing, and development of engineering design solutions
  • Participate in research, field investigations, and inspections to evaluate existing and proposed mechanical systems and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards 
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, specifications, and drawings related to system installation and performance 
  • Contribute to the application of modeling tools and advanced design techniques to improve building performance and efficiency 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (architects, electrical, civil, and structural engineers) to deliver integrated project solutions
  • Assist in reviewing designs to ensure alignment with safety, quality, and functionality standards 
  • Support construction administration activities, including responding to RFIs and reviewing shop drawings

 

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in mechanical design for building systems
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, piping, and mechanical equipment design
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (ASHRAE, IBC, etc.)
  • Proficiency with engineering tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, and load calculation software
  • Strong analytical, technical writing, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications

  • EIT certification or ability to obtain
  • Experience supporting healthcare, higher education, commercial, or industrial building projects

Compensation: 

Expected Salary: $84,500 - $116,200

 

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
