Profile Description:
Operating at programme level, the Equipment Procurement Lead is responsible for defining and driving the procurement strategy for long lead equipment across data centre developments within Continental Europe.
The role focuses on establishing procurement foundations, including policies, frameworks, governance and category strategies, while ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of critical equipment aligned with project requirements.
Beyond strategic setup, the role oversees the full procurement lifecycle—from supplier onboarding and tendering to contract award and performance management—ensuring alignment with construction programmes, risk mitigation strategies, and ESG objectives.
This position also plays a key role in embedding procurement best practices across project teams, fostering collaboration, and enabling scalable, efficient delivery across multiple data centre projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Governance
- Define and maintain procurement policies, frameworks, templates, and governance structures for data centre equipment procurement
- Develop and implement category-specific procurement strategies to maximise value and mitigate risk
- Align procurement strategies with business objectives, project delivery requirements, and ESG standards
- Promote continuous improvement and innovation within procurement practices
Procurement Execution & Tender Management:
- Lead the end-to-end procurement process including supplier onboarding, RFP development, tendering, evaluation, negotiation, and contract award
- Ensure procurement activities are aligned with project timelines, construction contracts, and technical requirements
- Manage bidding processes and commercial negotiations for key equipment packages
- Support project teams during procurement and contract execution phases
Supplier Relationship Management:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and strategic partners
- Monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance with contractual obligations and company standards
- Conduct supplier evaluations, audits, and performance reviews to drive continuous improvement
- Resolve supplier-related issues and foster collaborative, value-driven partnerships
Cost, Risk & Performance Optimisation:
- Drive cost optimisation initiatives throughout sourcing, procurement, and contract negotiation processes
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, ensuring resilience and continuity of supply
- Develop procurement budgets, cost benchmarks, and performance tracking tools
- Provide insights and recommendations to improve cost efficiency, procurement strategies, and operational performance
Integration, ESG & Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Embed procurement into the data centre project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with design, construction, and operational requirements
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to align procurement strategies with project and business goals
- Integrate sustainability and ESG principles into sourcing processes, including supplier due diligence and lifecycle cost assessment
- Promote best practices and knowledge sharing across teams to enhance procurement capability
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience in strategic procurement, with a focus on long lead equipment
- Strong experience in contract negotiation, tendering, and supplier management
- Proficiency in procurement tools, systems, and reporting methodologies
- Fluent in English (professional level)
