Title: Program Assistant – Bilingual in Spanish – Vallejo First 5 Center
Benefits:
Pay rate: $20 – $22 an hour based on experience
Full Time 36 hours: Tuesday–Friday 8:00am–4:30pm & Saturday 8:30am–12:30pm

Who You Are:
You are a community-minded, bilingual professional who enjoys supporting children, families, and programs in a welcoming, organized environment. You bring a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a strong sense of responsibility to your work. You enjoy balancing hands-on engagement with families and children while also supporting the behind-the-scenes administrative needs that keep the Center running smoothly. You are confident working independently when needed, particularly in supporting Center operations on Saturdays, while remaining a strong and collaborative team member.
What You Bring:
Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (spoken and written)

Strong verbal and written communication skills
Comfort working with young children and families
Excellent customer service skills and a warm, welcoming presence
Ability to build effective relationships with children, parents/caregivers, colleagues, and community members
Curiosity, openness to learning, and a desire to grow professionally

Administrative & Operational Strengths:
Highly organized with attention to detail, logistics, and operations
Strong typing skills and proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Forms, etc.)
Comfortable with clerical tasks, phone calls, and data entry
Able to help maintain a clean, organized, and program-ready Center
Able to lift 25 pounds regularly for setup and breakdown of childwatch and play area materials
Capable of independently managing administrative support on Saturdays, including front desk coverage and routine Center operations
Willingness to share insights and feedback to support continuous improvement and innovation
Preferred Experience:
Early Childhood Education (ECE) units and/or experience in a childcare setting
Experience with data entry
Experience supporting family-facing or community-based programs
Key Responsibilities:
Program & Administrative Support
Report to and collaborate with the Program Administrator
Support the Center with programmatic and administrative tasks
Handle phone calls and miscellaneous clerical duties
Assist with new family center tours, participant registration and placement into appropriate programming
Help ensure the Center is presentable, organized, and fully equipped for programming
Support general Center duties as part of a collaborative team
Help create marketing materials for events and classes
Family Engagement & Communication
Serve as the warm and welcoming presence for new and returning families
Provide interpretation for Spanish-speaking families and staff
Translate materials between English and Spanish
Coordinate and provide interpretation for workshops and classes as needed
Program & Play Space Support
Coordinate and lead designated open play space activities
Create engaging, dynamic programming experiences for children and families
Provide childwatch during designated times when parents are participating in adult-only programming
Implement a class each session after receiving training
Outreach, Events & Training
Support outreach opportunities and community engagement efforts
Receive training to administer Ages and Stages developmental screenings and conduct screenings each session
Receive Community Health Worker (CHW) certification in alignment with CalAIM requirements to support family engagement, care coordination, and education services
Coordinate and manage Parent Volunteers to support Center programming
Support events and Center visits as needed

Who We Are:
The Vallejo First 5 Center, a program of Bay Area Community Resources, is the first and only free-standing community center of its kind in Solano County. The center offers free programs that help parents/caregivers nurture and support their young children so they grow up healthy, happy, and positioned for success. The program focuses on parent education, early learning opportunities, family literacy, and community resources. Classes are for children ages 0-5 and their parents/caregivers to participate in together, in a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere. Local community partners are also stationed within the center on a rotational basis so our families gain access to services they need onsite.

Above is the pay range for this position that we reasonably expect to pay. Individual compensation is based on various factors including experience/education, skillset, and geographic location.
