OB TITLE: Downhill Bike Coach
DIVISION: Recreational Services
REPORTS TO: Ski & Ride School Manager
LOCATION: Moonbeam Base Area
CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time/Seasonal/Hourly
DATES OF EMPLOYMENT: Early June through mid-October
POSITION:
Downhill mountain bike coaches deliver personalized lessons and guided tours to guests of all ages in group and private settings. Aside from mountain biking, they will possess a passion for teaching people of all ages/abilities and refined people skills appropriate for delivering exceptional guest experiences. Pay depends on experience and certifications, ranging from $19.25-$30.00/hr.
SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Age 18+
Strong understanding of contemporary mountain bike riding and teaching practices
Ability to ride comfortably on all green, blue, and black downhill mountain bike trails
Ability to ride comfortably on small, medium, and large trail features including jumps 5-15 feet, drops 1-6 feet, and a variety of technical trail features such as rock gardens, rooted sections, and off camber turns
Own a contemporary, full-suspension bike that is suitable for riding on technical, black-rated downhill trails
Ability to diagnose and perform basic trailside maintenance on mountain bike tires, wheels, and drivetrains
PMBIA, BICP, or IMBA Level 1 or higher preferred but not required
CPR, First Aid, and AED Certified (or ability to obtain)
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Report to all assignments on time
Adhere to all established uniform and appearance guidelines
Teach lessons as assigned – group class, private, special programs; adult and/or children
Maintain accurate records of lesson participants daily
Provide post lesson feedback and recommendations for students
Maintain a friendly, congenial, and helpful attitude while effectively dealing with guests and other employees
Check schedule regularly and proactively communicate any inaccuracies to supervisor or administrators
Report any unsafe conditions regarding equipment and area of work, or elsewhere on the premises
Follow reporting procedures related to incidents or injuries
Maintain a high level of physical conditioning
Keep personal or loaned equipment in good working order
Assist with activities and summer camp operations as needed
Other duties as assigned
