Tire Technician

POSITION OVERVIEW

Tire and rim changes, rotations, maintenance and repair on all mobile mining equipment, light vehicles, support, and auxiliary equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Safety inflate and deflate tires properly with high pressure air where required.
• Maintain, inspect, diagnose, and repair tires.
• Determine and diagnose adverse effects on tire life with proper tire matching, inflation pressures and equipment mechanical issues.
• Identify all wheel/rim components for compatibility, damage, and wear.
• Properly inspect and determine components, tools, hardware, equipment, and work environment to be safe or unsafe.
• Operate, document, and perform pre-operational inspections, general repair, and service on tire handling equipment (hydraulic hoses, belts, lights, etc.).
• Install, balance, rotate, and repair passenger, light truck, medium truck, industrial and OTR tires
• Demonstrate basic knowledge of safe rigging practices, safe placement of jacks and stands.
• Operate various mine equipment for servicing.
• Ability to follow instruction and direction with minimal supervision.

REQUIREMENTS

• HS diploma or GED
• Prior experience in automotive and/or heavy equipment maintenance and tire repair.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, company policies, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situation where only limited standardization exists.
• Must be able to meet the physical demands of the work environment.
• Must have own basic tools for the position.
