
Public Health Nurse - PHN7 - Hybrid Schedule (Communicable Disease Control Division)
Job Description
- Carries out communicable disease surveillance, prevention, and control measures for the City of Boston.
- Investigates reports of communicable diseases including pathogens of public health importance, reported outbreaks, or other situations of public health concern, including emerging pathogen events.
- Conducts field investigations (including home and site visits) and implements preventive and control measures as needed.
- Provides nursing services at the BMC TB Clinic, including patient assessment, patient/family/significant other education, medication monitoring, and tuberculin skin testing.
- Assists with surveillance and control activities for mass casualty events
- Collects epidemiologic data as needed for analysis of communicable diseases within Boston.
- Provides nursing support for CDC Division including vaccine clinics and other projects or activities as needed.
- Acts as a resource re education and outreach to community-based agencies, health care facilities and providers, individuals, and other internal and external stakeholders in matters related to infectious diseases
- Participates in staff conferences and meetings, other departmental and community committees, research activities, quality improvement activities and program planning as requested.
- Collaborates with others throughout the Division to ensure public health preparedness
- Performs other duties as required.
