THE JOB
The NPI Buyer (New Product Introduction Buyer) plays a critical role in supporting new product development and customer-specific projects by ensuring the timely and cost-effective availability of materials. Operating from within the Procurement Department, this role collaborates closely with R&D, Engineering, and cross‑functional teams to convert project requirements into effective sourcing strategies and executable purchasing activities. The NPI Buyer is accountable for supplier coordination, purchase order execution and proactive risk management to support successful product launches and key project milestones.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the primary procurement interface for project teams, ensuring purchasing priorities are consistently embedded across all NPI activities, R&D stage‑gate phases and customer‑driven projects.
- Promote the consistent use of approved and preferred suppliers, supporting strategic sourcing decisions and enabling early procurement involvement with NKTP’s supplier base.
- Drive delivery readiness by coordinating material availability, supplier engagement and procurement‑related milestones throughout the entire NPI lifecycle.
- Contribute to early BOM cost‑out and cost‑efficiency efforts, helping establish competitive cost levels as products move from prototype builds into volume manufacturing.
- Secure on‑time availability of projects, prototype and ramp‑up materials, supporting smooth project execution and a controlled handover into serial production.
- Proactively mitigate supply risks by identifying potential constraints early, initiating corrective actions, and ensuring suppliers are prepared for each stage of the NPI process.
- Enhancing supplier development activities by translating the needs from our projects into clear inputs for Sourcing Specialists which are responsible for onboarding and qualifying new suppliers and technologies.
- Collaborate across functions to integrate procurement requirements, timelines and risk considerations into project planning and key decision‑making.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree or similar within Supply Chain or Engineering. As minimum 5 years’ experience working within Procurement. Relevant experience/education to support area of responsibility.
Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Dynamics 365. Working in a high mix/low volume technical production company.
Excellent business English and Danish are required.
