Job Description

New Zealand Venue Co. is on the lookout for an experienced, people-focused Duty Manager to join the team at Astrolabe, one of Mt Maunganui’s go-to hospitality destinations. If you love great food, good vibes, and leading teams in a fast-paced venue, this could be your next step.

What we’re looking for

  • A genuine passion for hospitality and creating standout guest experiences

  • Confident, friendly leadership style with strong communication skills

  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and juggle multiple priorities

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a bar, restaurant, or customer-facing hospitality role

  • Current Duty Manager Certificate and LCQ

  • Flexible availability across a 7-day roster (days, nights, and weekends)

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting the Venue Manager with the day-to-day running of Astrolabe

  • Leading shifts, motivating the team, and providing real-time coaching

  • Delivering warm, memorable service that keeps locals and visitors coming back

  • Managing compliance, health & safety, and licensed premises requirements

  • Handling core financial tasks including cash-ups, labour control, and end-of-day reporting

  • Assisting with onboarding, training, and developing new team members
