Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate and highly motivated Duty Manager to join Janu Tokyo. This role is ideal for a dynamic hospitality professional who thrives in a modern luxury environment and is committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences. As Duty Manager you will oversee daily front‑of‑house operations and ensure service excellence and support the Front Office leadership team and act as the hotel’s key operational contact during your shift. You will play a vital role in maintaining Janu’s elevated service standards and guiding and developing the front desk team and creating an atmosphere that reflects Janu’s spirit of connection and energy and contemporary luxury.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily Front Desk operations to ensure seamless check‑in and check‑out and guest services and overall service flow in accordance with Janu standards
- Act as the primary operational leader during assigned shifts and ensure smooth coordination between departments
- Support and mentor and supervise the Front Desk team to maintain high service quality and productivity and guest satisfaction
- Handle guest inquiries and special requests and feedback and complaints with professionalism and effective resolution
- Ensure accurate cash handling and billing procedures and compliance with hotel policies
- Assist with training and coaching and performance development of Front Desk agents and supervisors and shift leaders
- Oversee shift scheduling and basic labour management and daily staffing adjustments
- Collaborate with Housekeeping and Engineering and F&B and other departments to ensure operational harmony and timely guest service
- Respond to emergency situations and ensure guest and staff safety in accordance with hotel protocols
- Support the implementation of new service initiatives and guest experience enhancements and operational improvements
Requirements
- Minimum 6 years of practical experience as a front desk agent or similar role
- Minimum 3 year of practical experience in a luxury hotel environment
- Practical experience as a duty manager
- Practical experience as a sub-leader such as supervisor or team leader
- Basic knowledge of labour management and practical experience in shift scheduling
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Advanced business-level English proficiency (CEFR C1 or higher)
- Advanced business-level Japanese proficiency (CEFR C1 or higher)
- Advanced operational skills in hotel systems such as Opera, HotSOS and Alice
