Make your mark for patients
The GCD Head China will lead the China based Global Clinical Development (GCD) team and is responsible for the asset and non-asset projects allocated within their accountability.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Strategic Team Leadership: Lead and manage the China-based Global Clinical Development (GCD) team, assuming overall accountability for all assigned asset and non-asset clinical projects in the region.
- Regulatory & Clinical Innovation: Establish robust, innovative, and GCP-compliant clinical study designs and development programs that successfully navigate China’s regulatory landscape while enriching global asset pipelines.
- Global-Local Alignment: Partner closely with Global Asset Teams to align on strategic plans that deliver pre- and post-approval milestones, optimize patient access, and support life cycle management (LCM).
- Early-Stage Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with Patient Evidence and Patient Solutions (including Translational Medicine) at the Candidate Selection stage to embed China-specific patient value, access, and regulatory drivers into early-stage global development plans.
- Early China Integration: Advocate for and implement strategies that enable the earlier inclusion of China in global clinical development plans, ensuring excellence in operational execution and resource adequacy.
- Talent Development & Staffing: Serve as an active member of the GCD Leadership Team (GCDLT) to recruit, train, and develop top-tier GCD talent, ensuring optimal resource allocation for key clinical projects.
- Operational & Budgetary Oversight: Direct the execution of clinical activities to ensure strict adherence to governance-approved timelines, budgets, and strategic implementation plans.
- Executive Governance & Partnership: Serve on the UCB China Management Committee, establishing strong, impactful working relationships with both local and global internal stakeholders. As the member of China General Manager Leadership team that represents development, the GCD Head will provide updates and requests from across development functions and from Development Team China for each asset.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATION
- Medical Degree (M.D.)
Global/regional clinical development experience and proven track record as a leader in biopharmaceutical industry for more than 7 years.
- Substantial Clinical Development experience ideally with a blend of pre and post approval study work and major regulatory agency interaction, in particular in Asia and/or China.
- Demonstrable experience of robust leadership, collaboration and oversight of governance; GCP activities and their pragmatic implementation
- Understanding of regional and global healthcare ecosystems and the developing stakeholder influencing map
