Job Description

University Health Behavioral Health is seeking a compassionate, dedicated Evening Residential Program Manager to support our team in providing exceptional care to adults with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI). This unique leadership role provides operational and crisis support across four group homes located in Downtown Kansas City, MO, all situated within a convenient 10-minute drive of each other. Our goal is to stabilize symptoms, build life skills, and help clients transition back into the community with confidence.

Why You’ll Love Working Here:

In this role, you will have a tangible impact on the lives of individuals working toward mental health wellness and independence. You will lead and mentor a team of passionate Mental Health Techs (MHTs) across four nearby residential locations, providing clinical leadership, staff mentorship, and hands-on operational support. We foster a supportive, team-oriented environment where your input is valued, professional growth is encouraged, and work-life balance is a priority. You will have the autonomy to manage your evening while always having the backing of your director to help navigate operational challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Multi-Site Staff Supervision: Lead, mentor, and provide real-time support to evening Mental Health Techs across four group homes.

  • On-the-Job Training: Conduct hands-on staff training and skills development during the evening shift to ensure high-quality care.

  • Mobile Crisis Support: Travel quickly between locations to provide immediate, on-site crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed.

  • Evidence-Based Practice: Implement Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy (CT-R), a transformative clinical practice for which we provide specialized training.

  • Milieu Management: Foster a compassionate, therapeutic atmosphere across all locations that promotes client growth and empowers evening staff.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with daytime residential managers to ensure seamless shift transitions and continuity of client care.

Perks of the Position:

  • Set Evening Schedule: Consistent Monday–Friday schedule from 4:30 PM to 1:00 AM

  • Geographic Proximity: Minimal travel time with all four residential homes clustered within a 10-minute radius.

  • Professional Development: Comprehensive CT-R training, giving you cutting-edge clinical tools to support clients in psychiatric recovery.

  • Leadership Support: A Director committed to a healthy work-life balance who ensures your workload is manageable and your evenings are supported.

  • Total Rewards: Competitive compensation, comprehensive health insurance, and a robust employee benefits package, including PTO.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Master’s or doctorate degree from an accredited program in social work, psychology, counseling, or a Missouri-approved human services field. Applicants with bachelor's degrees and experience in the field should still apply.

  • Credential: Must be a Qualified Mental Health Provider (QMHP) in Missouri (e.g., RN, Social Worker, LPC, PLPC, OT). Applicants with bachelor's degrees and experience in the field should still apply.

  • Experience: Two years of human services experience, including at least one year working directly with a behavioral health or psychiatric population.

  • Licensure: Licensed or licensable in the State of Missouri.

  • Social Work Standard: Master’s in Social Work requires a minimum licensure of MO LMSW (or a clear, immediate pathway to obtainment).

  • Compliance: Must meet and maintain all requirements specified in the Fleet Driving Safety and Compliance Policy for travel between sites.

  • Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a willingness to work with multicultural staff and clientele in the Kansas City area.

  • Onboarding: Completion of required orientation and training within the established timeline.
