Job Description
Union Bid Split Tuesday-Saturday 7am-3:30pm An experienced, energetic athletic maintenance staff member will report to the Supervisor, Fields, Athletic Maintenance. He or she will need to provide Boston College Athletics and the public with clean and safe athletic facilities and playing surfaces. Duties include but are not limited to: highly maintained natural grass surfaces, spraying and spreading fertilizer and plant protectants with spray rig and or spreaders, irrigation systems repair, field marking and painting, synthetic playing surfaces, stadium maintenance, maintenance of assigned surrounding landscapes, walks, parking lots and planting beds. Maintenance of outdoor recreation areas; tennis and basketball courts and arena maintenance including: rink, basketball floor, function set ups and breakdown. The Athletic Maintenance department supports many University events including: commencement, masses, tailgating events, alumni weekend, concerts/live performances and other functions. Daily tasks include but are not limited to: trashing, blowing, mowing, string trimming, field painting, sweeping, raking, shoveling, tamping, carrying 50 lb. bags over long distances, measuring, cleaning, pushing spreaders for long duration of time, climbing ladders, light mechanics, weeding, general maintenance work or any other work assigned by manager. Maintain assigned common areas, natural and artificial grass playing surfaces. Safely operate golf carts, tractors, Toolcats, skid steers, mowers, blowers, aerators, utility vehicles, forklifts, top dressers, infield groomers, sprayers and spreaders. Applicant must have the ability to operate field maintenance equipment: mowers, aerators, spreaders, sprayers, tractors, golf carts. Show strong skills, in reading diagrams, as well as written and verbal communication. Must have proven ability to work and communicate well with Athletic Maintenance staff and others, such as: Athletics Department, BC Facilities Services staff, students, athletes, coaches and contracted vendors. Must be able to work on their own and with others on projects and tasks with sensitive timelines. Must be able to work in extreme cold and hot weather. Successful candidates will be primarily assigned to athletic fields but may be required to support and contribute to arena and rink maintenance from time to time. Pay- 33.04-34.61/per hour, depending on experience.
