
Chief Facilities Engineering Manager - Gaithersburg, Maryland
Job Description
We are seeking a seasoned Chief Facilities Engineer to oversee maintenance, repairs, and upgrades of our facilities, ensuring optimal functionality, safety, and compliance.
Clearance Requirement: Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information; Ability to obtain an HSPD-12 clearance required.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance plans, budgets, and schedules.
- Supervise and mentor facilities engineering staff, promoting professional growth and development.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and prioritize facility needs, developing and implementing capital improvement projects.
- Implement sustainable practices and energy-efficient solutions, reducing environmental impact and operational costs.
- Conduct regular facility inspections, identifying and addressing potential issues before they become major problems.
- Develop and maintain relationships with customer, vendors, contractors, and external partners, ensuring high-quality services and competitive pricing.
- Analyze data, metrics, and industry trends, making informed decisions to optimize facility operations and performance.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 10+ years of experience in facilities engineering, maintenance, operations, or a related discipline; or a bachelor’s degree with at least 5+ years of relevant experience.
A minimum of 5+ years of experience in facilities operations with a recognized engineering certification (e.g., Stationary Engineer License, USCG Engineering License) may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
In-depth knowledge of facilities management, engineering practices, and applicable regulatory standards.
Proven leadership capabilities with strong communication and project management skills.
Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, effectively managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience leveraging data and metrics to drive decision-making (preferred).
- Must be willing and able to travel to various job sites as required by project needs.
Qualifications:
Familiarity with engineering systems including but not limited to power generation and distribution, chilled water systems, heat recovery systems, low- and high-pressure steam systems, hydraulics, pneumatic and electronic controls, as well as other critical infrastructure systems.
Comfortability with all trade disciplines to include building controls, HVAC, electricity plumbing and other engineering trades.
Experience with building management systems (BMS), and other facilities management tools.
Familiarity with sustainability principles, energy-efficient technologies, and renewable energy systems.
Ability to lead engineering technicians and other trade disciplines.
Experience with specialty tools and processes to include but not limited to, hydrostatic testing, welding/brazing, ultrasonic testing, vibration analysis and machinery alignment procedures.
Preferred experience with chemical lab processes to include chemical neutralizers and air scrubbers.
Proven experience to handle complex problems with little down time or safety concerns.

Pay Range
USD $110,000.00 - USD $145,000.00 /Yr.
