Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures, ensuring optimal use of operating room time and resources.
- Communicate surgical schedules and changes to relevant medical and administrative staff.
- Verify and document patient information, insurance details, and pre-operative requirements.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of surgical schedules and patient files.
- Assist with patient admission and discharge processes.
- Answer phone calls and manage correspondence related to surgical scheduling and unit operations.
- Ensure timely and accurate communication of pre-operative instructions to patients.
- Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to resolve scheduling conflicts.
- Manage and update the scheduling system to reflect current and upcoming surgeries.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide administrative support to the surgical team, including data entry and filing.
- Monitor and report any discrepancies or issues in scheduling or unit operations to management.
- Facilitate effective communication between the surgical unit and other hospital departments.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED. Medical terminology or coding desired.
- Licenses/Certification: BLS
- Experience: Analytical ability to comprehend relationship of various tasks and data in Electronic Health Records and Practice Management System. Ability to ensure quality in patient care. Ability to work effectively as a team member with staff. Ability to perform detailed tasks in busy environment.
