Job Summary

*$750 Sign on bonus for PCA/CCT new hires, current MGB employees not applicable.


Schedule:
Days (7am-7pm) and Nights (7pm-7am)
Mandatory weekend shifts every month.
Holiday rotating schedule.

Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) is seeking a Critical Care Technician (CCT), with Day and Night shift availability, and to provide rotating weekend and holiday coverage.

Ellison 9 is a patient and family-centered 16-bed adult unit serving critically ill cardiac ICU patients. The most common diagnoses and/or interventions are hemodynamic monitoring, intra-aortic balloon counter pulsation, ventricular assist devices, CVVH, hypothermia after cardiac arrest, recovery from coronary procedures, including percutaneous aortic and mitral valve replacement, recovery from acute myocardial infarction complicated by cardiogenic shock, arrhythmias, congestive heart failure, respiratory failure and/or multiple organ dysfunction/failure.

Prefer applicants with more than (1) year clinical patient experience and seeking year-round permanent full-time opportunity. Gap year medical students with patient care experience accepted.


Summary
Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.

Essential Functions
-Performs patient care-related duties and clinical functions as assigned, including, but not limited to, performing and documenting point of care, vital signs, EKGs, bathing and other sanitary needs of patients, transferring and assisting with ambulation of patients, 1:1 patient observation for safety purposes, and phlebotomy. Assist RNs and physicians with other exams and treatments as required.

-Completes all documentation such as height, weight, intake of fluids and food, output of urine/stool/vomit/other drainage, and blood glucose result in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).

-Assists patients with food tray setup, eating, and feeding, as needed.
-Ensures that patient rooms are stocked, equipped, and cleaned appropriately, as needs indicate and as patient volumes change.

-Retrieves equipment from other areas, sets up equipment, cleans equipment between patient use, and reports malfunctioning equipment per organizational policy.

-Assists with admitting and discharging patients.

-Facilitates orientation of new PCA team members as directed.

-Interacts with patients, visitors, and other care team members effectively

-Communicates with nursing staff effectively and in a timely manner regarding issues related to patient care and condition.

-Fosters a positive, collaborative team environment that promotes teamwork and professional growth.


 

Qualifications

Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred

Licenses and Credentials
Basic Life Support [BLS] 

Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] 

Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician [National Certification] 

Experience
Experience working in patient care/elder care 0-1 year preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Strong patient/customer service skills.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
- Proficient in computer skills to work efficiently with electronic medical records.
