DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of the Office of Early Childhood Program, the Temporary Kindergarten Early Admission Assessor will be responsible for evaluating children whose families have applied for early entry, ensuring that every child within the specific birth window (September 2nd – October 13th) receives a fair and comprehensive opportunity to demonstrate their academic and social-emotional skills.
This position directly supports Priority 1: Strengthen Learning and Instruction of the HCPSS Strategic Plan. By utilizing end-of-Pre-K Early Learning standards, HCPSS ensures that instruction is appropriately matched to a child's developmental level. This role provides a pathway for advanced learners to begin their formal education based on demonstrated readiness rather than age alone, fostering an environment of equitable access to accelerated learning.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must meet all of the following qualifications listed below to be considered for the vacancy.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, a social science, or a related field.
Experience:
Deep understanding of Early Learning standards and developmental milestones for Pre-K and Kindergarten-aged children.
Ability to interact warmly and professionally with young children and their families.
Strong organizational skills with an emphasis on digital file structure and formatting
Strong skills in recording unbiased, descriptive anecdotal evidence.
Must be available for the training session in March and the subsequent assessment window.

ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct the HCPSS Early Admission assessment for all eligible applicants. You will ensure the process strictly follows the protocols outlined in the Early Admission to Kindergarten Assessment Team Reference Guide.Provide detailed anecdotal notes regarding the child’s behavior, engagement, and performance before, during, and after the assessment session.
Complete scoring of each item using the rubric provided in the Early Admission to Kindergarten Assessment Team Reference Guide.
Attend the mandatory Assessors Training in March to ensure calibration and familiarity with current assessment tools and standards.
Perform other duties as assigned to advance program goals.

EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION
Compensation
This is a temporary position and is grant funded. The hourly rate is determined by current budget allocations for temporary positions in the Early Childhood Access & Opportunity program.

Pre-Employment Requirements
