3. Responsibilities
Lead Plumbing Technician
- Lead and manage residential plumbing jobs from start to finish.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers and team members.
- Ensure compliance with all local plumbing codes, safety standards, and company policies.
- Provide expert-level troubleshooting, diagnostics, and problem resolution.
- Supervise and train junior technicians, ensuring proper procedures are followed.
- Maintain an organized, safe, and clean worksite.
- Order all necessary parts for sold work or coordinate with warehouse manager.
- Coordinate with office staff and dispatch for efficient scheduling and job planning.
- Ensure accurate completion of work orders, invoices, and other necessary documentation.
- Provide top-quality service that exceeds customer expectations.
4. Procedure
4.1 Pre-Job Planning
Review Work Order
- Review work orders, service history, and any special customer requests before arriving at the job site.
- Ensure that necessary tools, parts, and equipment are prepared.
Job Site Preparation
- Call the customer ahead of arrival to confirm the appointment time.
- Arrive on time with a professional demeanor and fully prepared to work.
- Introduce yourself to the customer, explain the scope of work, and answer any initial questions.
- Evaluate the worksite for safety hazards and take appropriate precautions.
- Set up protective coverings to prevent any damage to customer property (e.g., floor mats, drop cloths).
4.2 Job Execution
Assessment and Diagnosis
- Conduct a thorough assessment of the plumbing issue or system.
- Use advanced diagnostic tools as necessary to accurately identify problems.
- Provide the customer with clear, written solutions for the work.
Execution of Work
- Follow company protocols for all plumbing repairs and installations.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable plumbing codes and safety standards.
- Maintain communication with the customer throughout the job to keep them informed of progress.
- Guide and mentor junior technicians on best practices and troubleshooting.
Quality Control
- Double-check and test all work for quality and safety before declaring the job complete.
- Test systems to ensure full functionality and leak-free performance.
- Address any customer concerns immediately and ensure 100% satisfaction before leaving the job site.
4.3 Post-Job Procedures
Cleanup
- Ensure the worksite is left clean, removing any debris or leftover materials. Leave the jobsite cleaner than when you arrived.
- Replace any furniture or items moved to access the plumbing system.
Customer Interaction
- Review the work completed with the customer, explaining any repairs or maintenance performed.
- Provide recommendations for future maintenance, if necessary.
- Collect payment and provide a receipt or invoice for the service.
Documentation
- Complete all necessary documentation, including work orders, billing, and job notes, ST forms, photos etc.
- Submit completed paperwork to the ST within the designated time frame.
Follow-Up
- Ensure that any follow-up appointments or maintenance services are scheduled based on flow of office/parts ordering if needed.
- Contact the office for any additional parts or materials required to close out the job.
5. Safety and Compliance
- Follow all company safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Comply with OSHA standards, plumbing codes, and all local regulatory requirements.
- Immediately report any on-site accidents, incidents, or unsafe conditions to management.
6. Tools and Equipment
- Maintain and ensure proper functioning of all tools and equipment.
- Conduct pre- and post-job checks of tools to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Report any damaged or malfunctioning tools to management immediately for repair or replacement.
7. Training and Development
- Attend or schedule regular training sessions on new technologies, equipment, and procedures.
- Mentor junior technicians and provide hands-on training as required.
- Stay updated on changes in plumbing codes, safety standards, and best practices.
8. Performance Metrics
- Job completion within estimated time and budget.
- Customer satisfaction and positive feedback.
- Zero safety incidents or violations.
- Accurate and timely submission of paperwork.
9. Emergency Procedures
- In case of an emergency (e.g., gas leaks, water damage), follow the company’s emergency response plan.
- Ensure the safety of all persons on-site and contact emergency services if required.
- Report emergencies to management immediately for further instructions.
