Position Summary
The HRIS & Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization’s Human Resources Information Systems (Dayforce) and payroll operations to ensure accuracy, compliance, efficiency, and data integrity. This role partners closely with HR, Finance, IT, and leadership to optimize systems, drive process improvements, and support strategic workforce initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
HRIS Management
Administer, maintain, and optimize the Dayforce platform to ensure data accuracy, system integrity, and user effectiveness
Lead system upgrades, implementations, integrations, and enhancements
Manage HR data governance, including data audits, reporting standards, and security controls
Develop and maintain HR dashboards, reports, and analytics to support business decisions
Serve as the primary liaison between HR, IT, and system vendors
Payroll Management
Oversee end-to-end payroll processing ensuring timely and accurate payment of employees.
Manage high-volume payments: bonuses, commissions, and equity events.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax requirements
Manage payroll audits, reconciliations, and reporting
Work closely with HR and Finance departments to ensure integration between payroll and other HR/finance systems
Lead issue resolution related to payroll discrepancies or employee inquiries
Oversee quarter-end, W-2 preparation, year-end reconciliations, ACA reporting and resolution of federal and state tax notices.
Process Improvement & Compliance
Ensure payroll and time data integrity through reconciliations and variance analysis
Identify opportunities to streamline HR and payroll processes through automation and best practices
Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws, tax regulations, and internal policies
Develop and document standard operating procedures
Maintain audit-ready documentation and support internal controls
Leadership & Collaboration
Supervise, mentor, and develop payroll and HRIS team members, fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement
Establish clear goals, expectations, and performance standards for the team
Lead training initiatives to ensure staff remain current on payroll regulations
Provide training and support to HR and business stakeholders on system use and payroll processes
Translate payroll data into actionable insights for leadership
Partner with HR leadership on strategic initiatives such as workforce planning, total rewards, and employee experience
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or related field
5–8+ years of experience in HRIS and payroll management
Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax compliance, and reporting requirements
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills to derive actionable insights from complex datasets, identify opportunities, and provide innovative solutions
Maintains high integrity and confidentiality of company and department function
Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
Adept at building relationships with internal teams and external partners
Experience with HRIS platforms
Advanced Excel skills and experience analyzing payroll, workforce, or HR data; reporting and analytics experience preferred
Preferred
Professional certifications (e.g., CPP, SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR)
Experience leading system implementations or upgrades
Multi-state payroll experience
Compensation: $135,000 - $155,000 + 10% annual bonus opportunity
