Job Description

Federal Work-Study positions are part-time positions hired each semester and are for current Ivy Tech students only.

The AMEAS Technician Work-Study Student will assist the School of Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering, and Applied Science (AMEAS) with technical and organizational support in lab and classroom operations. This position complements the student’s academic program by providing practical, hands-on experience in an industrial and skilled trades environment, including Industrial Electrical and Engineering, Mechanical, Robotics, and Industry 4.0 labs.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the preparation of lab materials and class setups.
  • Maintain and organize lab equipment, parts, and materials (including consumables and non-consumables).
  • Maintain a standardized system for tracking and replenishing parts, consumables, and supplies.
  • Assist with inventory, ordering, and documentation for lab materials.
  • Support maintenance and repair of machinery, welding, and training equipment.
  • Maintain lab cleanliness and readiness for tours and instruction (wiping surfaces, removing scrap, organizing storage areas, etc.).
  • Prepare and package equipment for transfer between sites, ensuring all components are included.
  • Develop and maintain online tracking or visual inventory systems for trainers, parts, and consumables.
  • Perform periodic checks of equipment and materials to ensure readiness and report issues as needed.
  • Communicate with supervisors regarding repair needs, reordering, or prioritization of tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned in support of lab and program operations.

Starting Salary Range: $15.00 per hour

Classification: Work Study

General Qualifications:

  • No prior experience is required; customer service, lab, or technical experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Minimum Federal Work Study Qualifications:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Student must have completed a FAFSA for the current academic year, demonstrating financial need.
  • Maintain a minimum of 1 credit hour or more of enrollment in eligible courses.
  • Maintain an aid-eligible Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) status.
  • The student cannot have any incomplete financial aid requirements.
