Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS1. Minimum level of Education: Education level equivalent to completion of a state approved nursing assistant program preferred but not required.

2. Formal Training: Clinical competence in nursing assistance preferred but not required.

3. Licensure, Certifications & Registration: Current registry in the state of Georgia. BLS certification preferred but not required.

4. Work Experience: Basic knowledge of Nursing Assistant Principles. Basic word processing computer skills.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Responsibility Focused

  1. Attends organizational and departmental orientation upon employment and completes annual update and health requirements thereafter in accordance with timeframes specified by organizational policy.
  2. Demonstrates a working knowledge of and/or location of organizational policies and procedures as well as adheres to them.
  3. Exhibits a working knowledge of information management, confidentiality, patient/residents' safety, corporate compliance and infection control.
  4. Possesses knowledge of reporting errors or near misses without fear or blame/punishment for reporting accidents/incidents. Addresses and reports problems as they arise.
  5. Completes required competencies, licensure, certification and registration recertification in a timely manner, as well as participates in continuing education.
  6. Arrives to work on time, on scheduled days, during scheduled hours. Maintains flexibility with work schedule in meeting the needs of the department.
  7. Provides age specific care demonstrating knowledge of growth and development, system assessment and developing an interdisciplinary plan of care addressing culture, religion and ethnic preferences.
  8. Attends 75% of mandatory departmental meetings and in-services.
  9. Utilizes equipment and materials in a cost effective manner.
  10. Participates in performance improvement activities.
  11. Serves as a preceptor in orienting and/or training new personnel.
  12. Follows chain of command whenever issues or problems arise which are beyond scope of practice.
  13. Performs essential job functions in an acceptable quantity and quality.

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE

  1. Collects patient assessment data as delegated by the Registered Nurse within timeframe specified by protocol.
  2. Assesses patient for basic needs and contributes to the initial assessment and ongoing assessment of assigned patients.
  3. Communicates and documents pertinent information.
  4. Utilizes a multi-disciplinary approach to plan for patient discharge, beginning with the initial patient contact.
  5. Measures and documents accurately all vital signs, intake &output, diets, weights within specific time frame.
  6. Provides clerical support to nursing personnel as needed.
