Applicant Pool for Adjunct Faculty, Diagnostic Medical Sonography Lab Assistant

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

• Maintains Knowledge of current imaging practices in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Is knowledgeable of program goals. Understands the lab objectives and evaluation system.  

• Maintains competency in the professional discipline and instructional and evaluative techniques through continuing professional development. Demonstrates effective, positive communication with students, co-workers, supervisors, and others.  

• Monitors compliance of program procedures and provides correction to students if non-compliant according to the guidelines set forth in the Medical Imaging Department Procedure Manual. 

Essential Functions: 

• Encourage student participation. Provide students with understandable answers to their questions. Appears confident and enthusiastic about the subject matter.  

• Thoroughly reviews the scanning assignments / images and gives comments. Provides and supervises students “hands-on” experience. Reinforces material as presented in sonography lab manuals.  

• Monitors the lab facilities to ensure student compliance with department procedures. Communicates with lab instructors and the Program Director as necessary. 

Other Characteristics: 

• Promotes high morale among students by fair and equitable treatment. Promotes and instills the Sonography Code of Ethics. 

Minimum Education/Experience: 

• Associate degree or two-year technical certificate  

• ARDMS registered in AB and OB.

• Documents the equivalent of one-year full time clinical experience in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
