Job Description:
A PICS Engineer is typically responsible for designing, maintaining, improving, and supporting process, instrumentation, control, and systems-related activities in a manufacturing or industrial environment. The role helps ensure safe, reliable, efficient, and compliant operation of equipment and production processes.
Main responsibilities
- Design, implement, and improve control systems for manufacturing processes
- Support process automation, instrumentation, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, or related control platforms
- Troubleshoot equipment, control logic, sensors, and system integration issues
- Partner with manufacturing, maintenance, quality, EHS, and operations teams to resolve technical problems
- Lead or support capital projects, equipment upgrades, and system migrations
- Develop and maintain engineering documentation, control narratives, specifications, and standard operating procedures
- Analyze process performance and identify opportunities to improve uptime, yield, quality, and cost
- Support root cause investigations and corrective actions for process or equipment failures
- Help ensure compliance with safety, quality, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements
- Provide technical training and guidance to operators, technicians, and other engineers
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
Experience
- 3~5 yrs of PI&CS related hands-on working experience
- Experience in manufacturing, process engineering, automation, instrumentation, or controls systems
Technical skills
- PLC programming, process controls, instrumentation, data analysis, troubleshooting, automation systems, engineering documentation
Systems knowledge
- Familiarity with DCS, SCADA, HMI, MES, historian systems, and industrial networks
Others
- Problem solving Strong analytical and root cause analysis capability
- Communication Ability to work cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, quality, and leadership
- Project work Experience managing small to medium capital or improvement projects
- Compliance Understanding of EHS, quality systems, change management, and regulated manufacturing environments if applicable
