Job Description
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Golf Course Grounds, the Golf Course Maintenance – Seasonal position will undertake and be responsible for the completion of routine and special projects assigned. They shall complete their assignments to the best of their abilities, offer suggestions to improve job efficiency and quality and keep in mind the best interests of the Park District and fellow employees.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position will have no supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Job Duties
Include, but not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.
•Carry out all golf labor duties as assigned under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent.
•Turf maintenance including mowing, seeding, sodding, aerating and application of fertilizers, herbicides and insecticides.
•Maintain golf course facilities.
•Plant, maintain and remove all landscape material, including large trees.
•Inspect, repair, construct and clean all gold amenities.
•Repair and painting of facilities and equipment.
•Irrigation system maintenance repair.
•Irrigate manually to maintain turf and flowers.
•Drainage system installation, maintenance and repair.
•Maintain all equipment and hand tools used.
•Remove and properly dispose of all trash and refuse from golf course.
•Maintain ponds as instructed by the Assistant Superintendent.
•Attend seminars and workshops to provide for professional growth.
•Communicate matters of departmental interest or importance to the Assistant Superintendent in a timely manner.
•Assist the General Manager/Superintendent of Golf Operations and Assistant Superintendent in completing reports, record keeping, purchasing and communications with residents, vendors and recreation staff.
•Making and maintaining ice rinks.
•Custodial work including cleaning of kitchens, locker rooms, toilets and restroom areas.
•Painting and finishing indoors and outdoors.
•Trades construction and repair of park and playground equipment, park amenities, park buildings, roofs, doors and windows.
•Perform other related Park District duties as required or assigned.
Education and Experience: Must be able to perform routine maintenance tasks of a semi-skilled nature. Must be in good physical condition and have sufficient strength to perform heavy manual labor when required. Should have the ability to learn new tasks as well as some mechanical aptitude or knowledge in the use of, but not limited to: Grounds equipment, light-duty trucks, and hand tools.

Valid Driver’s License
Schedule: Summer hours: 5am-1:30pm. non-summer hours: 6am-2:30pm. Hours vary based on weather and maintenance needs.
Wage Range: $15.50- 17.00 per hour
Classification: Seasonal, Non-exempt

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
