Maintenance Apprentice
Location: Royston - UK
The position is a site-based role
At Johnson Matthey, your work will matter. As a Maintenance Apprentice in Noble Metals, you’ll join a world leader in platinum group metals with over 200 years of history. Using advanced metals chemistry, you’ll help tackle the world’s biggest challenges - cutting emissions, powering modern life and supporting life‑saving technologies - by applying, refining and recycling metals that matter for a healthier, more sustainable, circular future.
The role:
As a Maintenance Apprentice, you will help drive our goals by:
- Working alongside experienced technicians and engineers to maintain and repair plant and equipment
- Learning how mechanical and electrical systems operate within a manufacturing environment
- Supporting planned maintenance activities and responding to equipment issues safely
- Developing practical engineering skills through hands-on work and formal training
- Following site safety, quality and security procedures at all times
Due to the nature of this role applicants must be non-smokers and have been free from nicotine products for at least 3 months
Key skills that will help you succeed in this role:
- A practical, hands-on approach and interest in how things work
- A logical mindset with willingness to learn new technical skills
- Basic GCSE-level knowledge in Mathematics, Science and English
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Commitment to completing an engineering apprenticeship framework
