Ensure smooth workflow, equitable assignment distribution and sufficient coverage during busier times, growth, attrition, PTO, etc.
Proactively forge strong working relationships with assigned partners. Provide timely and candid communication on statuses, problems and timelines
Swiftly and effectively resolve billing and other issues
Ensure compliance with firm deadlines and policies
Proactively recommend and implement process, procedural and policy enhancements
Liaise with and support finance functions outside of billing
Develop and conduct training sessions; maintain and enhance process documentation
Promote a positive, energetic culture featuring accountability, strong communication, teamwork, collaboration and excellence
Lead departmental projects and other tasks as assigned
Perform duties with the highest of moral and ethical standards
Develop comprehensive expertise on assigned staff’s billing tasks and the firm’s billing system and ebilling platforms
Understand ebilling processes; liaise with ebilling team to ensure timely billing and problem resolution
Understand and manage key monthly billing dynamics: Prebill run and distribution process; invoice processing; client fee arrangements; billing guidelines; eBilling rejections, timekeepers and rates; matter maintenance; departmental mailboxes, ensuring responses are current and resolved; control reports (prepared not posted, etc.); departmental performance metrics
Provide professional development (training/mentoring)
Regular dialogue on performance and timely addressing of performance issues
Provide performance evaluations on assigned staff during the annual evaluation process and provide performance updates to management on an ongoing basis
Participate in recruiting, interviewing and transition of assigned staff
Other duties as required to fully meet the requirements of this position
