Pay: $35.00/hr.

*Pay rates listed reflect the full rate for this position, including both the base pay and health and welfare benefits in accordance with applicable requirements. Pay is based on numerous factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

POSITION SUMMARY INFORMATION: DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS


Position Overview: In this role, you will oversee the repair, accountability, security, issuance, storage, and operational control of firearms, ammunition, tactical equipment, and related security assets within the detention facility. You will ensure all weapons and controlled equipment are managed in accordance with facility policies, government standards, company procedures, and applicable safety regulations. This position requires strong attention to detail, accountability, professionalism, and the ability to maintain strict security protocols while supporting armed security operations within a secure detention environment.


Responsibilities:

  • Perform weapon maintenance, inspections, cleaning schedules, and repair activities to ensure operational readiness of all assigned firearms and tactical equipment.
  • Maintain accountability and secure storage of firearms, ammunition, restraints, radios, tactical gear, and other controlled security equipment assigned to authorized personnel.
  • Issue and receive firearms, ammunition, and tactical equipment while ensuring all inventory transactions, chain-of-custody records, and accountability logs are accurately documented.
  • Conduct routine inspections of weapons, ammunition, armory storage areas, and tactical equipment to identify maintenance concerns, discrepancies, or security issues.
  • Ensure all firearms and controlled equipment are stored, handled, transported, and maintained in compliance with facility procedures, safety standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Monitor inventory levels of ammunition, tactical supplies, weapon cleaning materials, and operational security equipment while coordinating procurement or replacement requests as needed.
  • Support firearms training activities, emergency response operations, qualification events, and operational equipment preparation for security personnel.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies, missing equipment reports, damaged firearms, or accountability concerns and report findings through the appropriate chain of command.
  • Maintain detailed armory records, operational reports, inspection documentation, and inventory tracking systems in accordance with facility requirements.
  • Coordinate with armed security personnel, supervisors, transportation teams, and facility leadership regarding equipment issuance and operational needs.
  • Ensure armory areas remain organized, secure, and compliant with all operational safety and security procedures at all times.
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, strong organizational skills, and strict adherence to security protocols while supporting detention facility armed operations.


Qualifications:

  • Must possess a minimum of two (2) years of experience performing armory operations in a military, law enforcement, or security setting.
  • Must possess an general Armorer training certification from either the military, law enforcement, or recognized security provider.
  • Must possess a valid Sig p320 manufacturer certification.
  • Must possess a deep technical understanding of handgun mechanics, including detailed component inspection, diagnostic troubleshooting, and parts replacement.
  • Must possess an uncompromised commitment to firearms safety protocols, ensuring strict compliance during function testing, clearing procedures, and live-fire evaluations.
  • Must be able to provide proof of citizenship or legal US work authorization.
  • If prior active-duty military, must provide copies of DD214(s) showing discharge condition.
  • Must consent to fingerprinting.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Clean criminal record and ability to pass a comprehensive background check and security screening.
  • Ability to pass a preemployment medical assessment and drug screening.
  • Excellent communication, observation, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure and in high-stress situations.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.


Work Environment:

Employees may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.


Physical Requirements:

Employees may be required to remain in a stationary position, stand, push, pull, climb, kneel, crawl, balance, squat, bend, and reach. Employees may be also required to use gear to move items around, including, but not limited to, carts and dollies. Employees may also be occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 49 pounds.
