
Pool Party Attendant
Job Description
Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, the birthday party attendant is responsible for the supervision and personal safety of every individual using the pools and surrounding areas. The birthday party attendant must communicate with patrons and lifeguards regarding the use of the pool, swim testing for all participants, and time management of party activities.
- Report for duty ½ hour before the party begins.
- Check in with the party every 20 minutes.
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the pool (party-related trash), deck, and party areas.
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times.
- Report for duty on time and prepared to assist patrons.
- Give the pool rules prior to ushering the party into the pool.
- Assist with swim tests and selection of appropriate flotation devices for non-swimmers.
- Will place Swim-safe bands on all party participants under age 13.
- Know and practice all emergency action plans and procedures.
- Arrange furniture prior to the party and clean up following the party, including sweeping the floor and taking out trash.
- Secure a substitute in the event of illness or emergency and notify the Head Party Attendant.
- Engage in positive public relations with members and participants.
- Refrain from eating, reading, talking, or texting on cell phones while on duty.
- Perform additional tasks delegated by the Aquatics Director for the overall benefit of the Aquatics Department and YMCA.
Birthday party attendant candidates must be 16 years old.
Prefer certified YMCA and/or American Red Cross Lifeguard with First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
Become certified in Adult, Child, Infant CPR/AED within 6 months of hire.
Must complete Child Abuse Prevention Training and New Employee Orientation within 90 days of initial employment
Must be able to tolerate high temperature and humidity
