Job Summary (Essential Functions):
The Host/Hostess is the first point of contact for members and guests and plays a key role in creating a welcoming and organized dining experience. This position is responsible for greeting members, managing reservations, communicating wait times, coordinating table assignments, and supporting service staff to ensure a smooth and efficient flow throughout the dining areas. The Host/Hostess helps maintain a friendly, professional atmosphere and ensures that all guests are warmly welcomed and promptly assisted.
Job Tasks/Duties:
- Warmly greets members and guests upon arrival, offering assistance and answering questions.
- Manages reservations, walk-ins, and waitlists using club systems and established procedures.
- Assigns tables strategically to ensure balanced server sections and smooth service.
- Communicates wait times clearly and courteously to members.
- Escorts members to their tables and ensures menus or specials are provided.
- Notifies servers and supervisors promptly when guests are seated.
- Helps manage the flow of the dining room by monitoring open tables, progress of meals, and upcoming reservations.
- Assists in coordinating special seating requests, accessibility needs, or larger parties.
- Supports pre-shift setup, including organizing menus, keeping the entrance and podium tidy, and reviewing reservations.
- Answers phones professionally, taking to-go orders or forwarding calls as appropriate.
- Assists with maintaining cleanliness of lobby and entrance areas.
- Provides support during peak service by helping refill waters, clearing small items, or running food when appropriate.
- Upholds all club service standards, including dress code and member-service expectations.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the management team.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior experience in a hospitality, customer service, or front-of-house role is helpful but not required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a friendly and welcoming demeanor.

- Ability to create a warm, positive first impression for members and guests.
- Professional and calm communication, especially during busy periods.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage waitlists, seatings, and reservations efficiently.
- Knowledge of dining room layout, table numbers, server sections, and service flow.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize while maintaining a polished, member-focused approach.
- Comfort enforcing club guidelines respectfully and consistently.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and high member interaction.
- Must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and peak-season shifts.
