The Department of English at University of the Cumberlands seeks candidates to join our faculty as a full-time Assistant Professor of English beginning August 2026. The primary responsibilities of the position will focus on teaching undergraduate courses in Composition I and Composition II, along with upper-division English Literature courses based on applicant’s expertise and the department’s course rotation. Responsibilities:

  • Teaching undergraduate courses in Composition I and Composition II, along with upper-division English Literature courses based on applicant’s expertise and the department’s course rotation
  • Working collaboratively and successfully with colleagues and university administration
  • Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair
  • Other duties as assigned by the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in English Literature (Master of Arts considered)
  • Proven experience in teaching
  • Record of professional and scholarly productivity
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills. Must be able to relate to and communicate with diverse students, faculty, staff, and external communities
  • Willingness to adopt and support a mindset that focuses on student success
