JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP) Health Educator will facilitate a comprehensive sexual health education curriculum among Wyandotte County middle school students, starting in the Kansas City, KS Public School District. This is a grant-funded project with the goals of increasing attitudes that demonstrate personal responsibility and self-sufficiency, refraining from sex, and reducing teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections. The Health Educator will facilitate the Love Notes 4.0 and Mind Matters evidence-based curricula. Along with teaching responsibilities, the health educator may also assist with quality assurance and data collection activities on the grant and will collaborate with teachers, school district staff, the project evaluator, and the project director. As time allows, the Health Educator may deliver additional health programming to youth and adults in other settings such as juvenile detention, behavioral health facilities, after-school programs, health fairs, and neighborhood groups.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor’s degree in public health, community health, education, communications, and two years of related program experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Experience working with a diverse youth population and demonstrate a mature understanding of relationship building and management. Requires knowledge of computer skills (Microsoft Office) and office equipment. Funding for this position expires on 9/29/2027; the position will work with the Program Supervisor to secure continuation funding.
Salary Range:
$27.54-$36.83/hr.
