We are looking for a Senior Stack & Modelling Expert to join our Stack Development team in Vantaa.
In this pivotal role, you will act as a key player and the go-to authority for solid oxide stack expertise, driving the design of our next-generation products. You will bridge the gap between advanced multiphysics simulations and experimental testing campaigns, ensuring information flow and support across different departments to fuel our customers' success.

You will report to R&D Manager, Stack Development. The role is based in Vantaa, Finland and hybrid with 50% flexibility to work remotely.

Job Description
Your mission
Your tasks
- Lead Modelling & Simulation Strategy: Develop and scale Elcogen’s stack and stack module modelling expertise. Set up and optimize our computational hardware and software platforms.
- Execute High-Fidelity Simulations: Conduct multiphysics, fluid dynamics (CFD), thermal, and structural strength analyses to optimize product performance, durability, and efficiency.
- Advance Next-Gen Platforms: Develop current and future solid oxide stack platforms from a design and functionality perspective, continuously aligning technical progress with company strategic goals.
- Bridge Virtual & Physical Testing: Closely collaborate to develop and validate internal modelling tools against real-world data. Coordinate internal and external testing activities, including Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) and post-test stack analysis.
- Project & Stakeholder Leadership: Drive and participate in customer and publicly funded research projects (such as Business Finland or EU projects), acting as the technical reference person to ensure timely deliverables.
- IP & Market Intelligence: Actively contribute to protecting and expanding Elcogen's Intellectual Property (IP) via patent surveillance and ideation, while keeping a pulse on competitor technology and scientific literature.
Your profile
- Ph.D. or M.Sc. in Engineering, Physics, Electrochemistry, Fluid Dynamics, or a highly relevant modelling discipline.
- Expert in multiphysics and CFD tools like COMSOL, Fluent, StarCCM+, OpenFOAM, or similar software.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in optimization work, preferably for high-temperature products, solid oxide technologies, or complex chemical process equipment.
- CAD & Tools: Solid know-how of 3D design software, preferably Autodesk Inventor and Vault.
- Electrochemical Insights: Strong background in electrochemical characterization, data interpretation, and advanced analysis methods (e.g., EIS data analysis, DRT, equivalent circuit modelling).
- Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. You are a team player who can view the "full picture" across multiple cross-functional streams.
- Languages: Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Specialized experience in Solid Oxide Electrolysis (SOEC) or Fuel Cell (SOFC) modelling.
- Deep understanding of material sciences.
- An established scientific and professional network within the hydrogen, fuel cell, and electrolysis arena.
