
Registered Nurse Operating Room Team Leader - Center for Ortho Surgery - Full Time
Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Perioperative Team Leader is a member of the interdisciplinary team. The Team Leader is responsible to oversee any necessary coordination of the interdisciplinary plan of care and provides for its consistency with the medical treatment plan. He or she regularly functions as a Registered Nurse and ensures expert nursing care delivery, providing staff education, consultation, evidence-based clinical practice and leadership.
The Perioperative Team Leader supervises staff in their daily activities to ensure the delivery of care according to established departmental policies and procedures. All patient care activities are administered according to standards, procedural guidelines and organizational policy.
The Perioperative Team Leader actively supports performance improvement initiatives and provides leadership to other members of the patient care team. By participating in educational activities, the Team Leader assumes responsibility for continued professional and personal growth. This position assists the Surgery Center leadership with resolving staff issues, participating in performance reviews, developing and implementing performance improvement activities and orienting new employees.
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of New Jersey and current BLSHCP.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 3-5 years experience preferred. 2 years previous specialty experience and/or demonstrated competency within specialty preferred. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risks of the clinical environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury. Physical demands include but are not limited to considerable stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing heavy equipment and excessive standing and walking. Position requires lifting approximately 25-50 lbs frequently and 50-100 lbs with assistance, occasionally. Essential functions for this position are listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

This position reports to department leadership.
