The Special Advisor, under general direction, will provide strategic input to the Executive Director for Administration and Finance for Clinical Services. This individual works directly with the leadership to advance Enterprise goals through a variety of actions.
What you need to know
This is a part-time temporary (fixed term) position that is expected to end within one year.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ten years of related experience in finance/administration within a higher education setting
Preferred Qualifications
5 years of accounting and budget management experience
Experience with project management and pro forma budget creation
Supervisory and/or personnel management experience
Documented experience with FAMIS, Workday, Emburse, and other business management enterprise software
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
Experience working with varied individuals and communities
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Responsibilities:
Strategic Financial Analysis & Advisory
Provide strategic input to the Executive Director for Administration and Finance for Clinical Services in support of a comprehensive review of clinical services administrative and financial operations.
Conduct detailed financial reviews of multi‑million‑dollar projects, including pro forma development, forecasting, auditing of expenditures, and validation of costing and allocation methodologies.
Review programmatic finances (e.g., practice plans, consortia, and specialized programs such as Aerospace Medicine) to identify fiscal blind spots, inefficiencies, and compliance risks, and assist in development of program‑specific financial pro formas.
Administrative Structure, Governance & Resource Planning
Participate in the review and evaluation of administrative structures and processes supporting Clinical Services.
Develop and support implementation of proposals to establish or enhance appropriate administrative infrastructure that ensures compliance with state regulations, university guidelines, and alignment with the college strategic plan.
Recommend organizational changes, including personnel numbers, mix, reporting structures, and development of financial staffing proposals to ensure adequate management of departmental resources moving forward.
Budget Monitoring, Reporting & Compliance Oversight
Develop and implement standardized budget monitoring procedures within clinical departments.
Create and institutionalize regular budget reports that are clear, accessible, and actionable for departmental leaders and program directors.
Establish processes to support ongoing financial transparency, proactive fiscal management, and early identification of risks related to compliance and resource utilization.
