Summary
The QC Repair Technician plays a critical role in ensuring Skeeter fire apparatus meet the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction. This position is responsible for completing rework items identified during customer final inspections and assisting production teams with in-process rework to maintain efficient workflow across all production lines. The Rework Technician will work closely with the Quality and Delivery teams to resolve inspection findings in a timely manner and directly support production teams when additional help is required. This is a hybrid role that includes both inspection support and hands-on rework duties. A positive, solutions-focused attitude is essential to success in this position.
Duties and Responsibilities
Complete rework items identified during customer final inspections to ensure full compliance with specifications and customer expectations.
Assist production teams with in-process rework as needed to maintain production line flow and minimize downtime.
Perform hands-on troubleshooting and repair through electrical, plumbing, and automotive systems.
Support Quality Specialists and Delivery Coordinators by addressing rework concerns during Blue Floor and customer inspections.
Document all rework performed and communicate completion status to Quality and Delivery teams.
Ensure all work is completed to Skeeter quality standards and in compliance with customer specifications.
Maintain accurate records of materials, parts, and methods used in rework.
Assist with inspections to help identify defects or nonconformances in process or at final inspection.
Participate in problem-solving activities to address root causes of rework and prevent recurrence.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to all safety standards.
Perform other related responsibilities as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager or Delivery Coordinator.
Qualifications
Strong mechanical aptitude with multi-disciplinary skills (electrical, plumbing, and automotive).
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and customer specifications.
Problem-solving mindset with the ability to troubleshoot issues quickly and effectively.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of basic and advanced plumbing systems used in firefighting equipment.
Skilled in electrical troubleshooting and repair.
Understanding of fire apparatus construction, components, and systems.
Proficiency in general automotive/ mechanical repair.
Must be proficient in reading prints and customer specifications.
Positive attitude with a focus on customer satisfaction and teamwork.
Must be organized, detail-oriented, and capable of following up on assigned tasks.
Must have good oral and written English communication and interpersonal skills.
Must have team-oriented attitude and willingness to support multiple departments.
Must be able to effectively interact with and maintain a professional image with customers and team members.
Education and/or Experience
Required Education:
High School Diploma
Preferred Education:
Technical training in automotive, electrical, or mechanical trades
Required Experience:
Fire apparatus or fire service equipment
Automotive/ electrical/ plumbing repair
Manufacturing environment
Cross-functional teamwork
Class A CDL
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
