Ciklum is looking for a Senior Go Engineer to join our team full-time in Spain.

About the role:
As a Senior Go Engineer, become a part of a cross-functional development team working for the customer. You will be responsible for working closely with our point-of-sale partners, so you need to be comfortable communicating with non-technical people, and have a proactive approach to problem solving.

Responsibilities:
- Uphold Code Quality & System Reliability – Write clean, effective, and idiomatic Go, ensuring our codebase is maintainable and scalable Participate in pair programming and code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback to uphold our standards
- Act as a Technical Bridge to Partners – Serve as a key technical point of contact for our POS partners. Clearly communicate integration requirements, troubleshoot issues, and translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders to ensure smooth, successful partnerships
- Champion 'Working Out Loud' – In our hybrid environment, proactively share your work, progress, and challenges in Slack and through clear documentation. Contribute to a culture of transparency and collective ownership, ensuring the entire team stays informed
- Practice Test-First Development – Apply TDD and automated testing practices to guide design, prevent regressions, and ensure fast, reliable feedback loops across the system
- Diagnose & Resolve Production Issues – Investigate and solve complex technical problems within our live systems. Collaborate with the team to debug integration failures, identify root causes, and implement lasting solutions that improve system performance, stability, and visibility
Requirements:
- Commercial Go Experience – A track record of writing clean, maintainable, and idiomatic Go in a professional environment
- Distributed Systems Knowledge – Solid understanding of microservice architectures and hands-on experience with messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ) and asynchronous, event-driven communication patterns
- API Development & Integration – Strong experience designing, building, and consuming APIs, particularly for third-party integrations
- XP Practices & Mindset – Experienced in eXtreme Programming practices, including pair programming, collective ownership, and short feedback cycles
- Test-Driven Development (TDD) – Strong advocate of a test-first approach; hands-on experience applying TDD consistently to guide design, improve code quality, and prevent regressions
- Automation Testing – Commitment to quality through comprehensive automated testing (unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end), ensuring fast, reliable feedback loops
- Coaching & Mentoring – Skilled in coaching peers on TDD, pairing, and XP principles to improve team practices and uplift engineering culture
- Technical Communication – Excellent communication skills, with a demonstrable ability to explain technical subjects and integration requirements clearly to non-technical partners
- Remote Collaboration – Experience working effectively in an asynchronous, remote team environment, with a habit of "working out loud"
