Join the Customer Support Technology (CS Platform) team to help build the systems that power eBay’s global customer service experience.

This is a full-stack engineering role where you will:

  • Contribute to backend services and APIs

  • Build user-facing web applications and internal tools

  • Support development of workflow systems and automation platforms

You’ll work on features that improve agent productivity and customer experience, collaborating closely with senior engineers.

This is a hands-on IC role:

  • ~70–80% coding (frontend + backend)

  • ~20–30% collaboration, reviews, and learning

You will primarily own well-scoped features with guidance.

Must-Have Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience

  • 2–4 years of full-stack software development experience

Backend

  • Proficiency in Java (or similar backend language)

  • Experience building or contributing to REST APIs

  • Basic understanding of databases (SQL; exposure to NoSQL is a plus)

Frontend

  • Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript

  • Experience with React, Angular, or similar frameworks

  • Understanding of API integration and responsive UI development

General

  • Familiarity with:

    • Git and CI/CD pipelines

    • Basic testing and debugging practices

  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn

  • Basic familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT)

  • Awareness of how AI/LLMs are used in applications (APIs, simple workflows, automation)

Nice-to-Have

  • Exposure to Spring Boot or similar frameworks

  • Familiarity with Docker or cloud environments

  • Basic understanding of state management (Redux, etc.)

  • Exposure to monitoring/logging tools

  • Awareness of workflow or automation systems

  • Exposure to LLM-based features, such as:

    • Chat or summarization use cases

    • Prompt-based workflows

    • API-based AI integrations

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and maintain frontend and backend components

  • Build and enhance web applications and APIs

  • Write clean, testable, and maintainable code

  • Participate in code reviews and Agile ceremonies

  • Troubleshoot issues in development and production with guidance

  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers

  • Contribute to improving performance, scalability, and reliability

  • Support development of AI-enabled features or integrations (e.g., automation, assistive workflows)
