Role: Senior Programmatic Trader

Location: Melbourne
 

What you’ll do

As a Senior Programmatic Trader, you’ll play a key role in delivering outstanding client outcomes across Australia and New Zealand. You’ll own campaign performance end to end, use data to inform buying decisions, and help drive results against both client KPIs and internal commercial goals.

Campaign execution

  • Deliver strong campaign performance across a diverse portfolio of accounts in Australia and New Zealand.

  • Take ownership of campaign execution, optimisation and performance monitoring across your portfolio, working with central and support teams where relevant to deliver strong client and commercial outcomes.

  • Use data to improve buying decisions and consistently overdeliver against client KPIs and internal profit objectives.

  • Bring hands-on experience with DSPs including DV360, The Trade Desk and Yahoo.

  • Experience with paid social platforms such as Meta, TikTok, Snapchat and Reddit is a plus.

Portfolio management

  • Manage campaigns with a strong focus on profitability and commercial outcomes.

  • Balance portfolio growth objectives with margin and profitability targets across a range of campaign types.

  • Retain and grow client portfolios by exceeding KPIs, delivering meaningful insights and building strong relationships.

  • Identify and recommend cross-channel diversification opportunities that strengthen performance, deepen client investment and expand use of MiQ’s products and solutions. 

Collaboration

  • Communicate clearly with Sales and Account Services’ teams on campaign progress, product capabilities and areas of opportunity.

  • Proactively engage Sales team to position MiQ’s products and capabilities and support growth strategies across multiple regions.

  • Take initiative in supporting teammates and delivering training or knowledge-sharing sessions.

  • Partner closely with your Trader Manager and Trading Director to deliver client KPIs, support business profitability, and run product test-and-learns.

  • Work with MiQ’s global central teams across ad operations, pre-campaign analysis, post-campaign reporting, troubleshooting and client communication.

  • Help manage client expectations effectively during periods of volatility or change.

Client Engagement 

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of MiQ’s full commercial offering including; products, solutions, data capabilities, pricing models, and value propositions, to effectively position our services with clients and to inform strategic trading and campaign decisions.

  • Build and nurture strong client relationships by acting as a trusted advisor on MiQ’s programmatic and data solutions, leading regular performance insights, proactively identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities, and ensuring client objectives are consistently translated into clear, actionable media plans.

  • Support Sales and Account Services to deliver best-in-market QBRs by providing trading and product inputs, preparing performance narratives, and joining client meetings to explain campaign results and recommendations.

  • Deliver timely, relevant insights and ideas aligned to client objectives.

  • Communicate complex trading concepts clearly to a range of stakeholders.

  • Own the trading narrative for QBRs, strategic reviews or client pitches, ensuring recommendations are insight-led, commercially grounded and action-oriented. 

Innovation and continuous improvement

  • Act as a senior trading voice within the team, helping raise standards through QA, coaching, knowledge sharing and strong day-to-day judgment.

  • Use campaigns as opportunities to test, learn and implement innovative ideas.

  • Maintain and improve ANZ trading and operational processes and best practices.

  • QA campaigns for other traders with care and accuracy.

  • Create and maintain wiki pages and knowledge documents.

  • Share learnings with the wider team to drive adoption of new insights, optimisation approaches and ways of working.

  • Bring curiosity, initiative and a genuine motivation to keep learning.

What you’ll bring

  • At least 3 years’ experience trading programmatic campaigns.

  • Strong commercial experience, with clear evidence of delivering a high standard of client service and helping grow advertiser relationships through performance, insight and partnership.

  • Confidence presenting to clients, including QBRs, and answering questions on campaign strategy, optimisation and product capabilities.

  • Strong mathematical and analytical capability.

  • The ability to work with large datasets in Excel and internal BI tools.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills and a clear, structured approach to problem solving.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
