Job Summary
The Lead Medical Assistant – Sports Medicine is a key member of the care team responsible for supporting clinical operations and providing leadership to Medical Assistant staff under the direction of the Practice Manager. In addition to performing direct patient care and Medical Assistant duties, this role serves as a mentor, resource, and liaison between clinical staff, providers, and leadership to promote efficient workflows, high-quality patient care, and effective communication across the practice.Essential Functions
-Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the Medical Assistant team within the Sports Medicine practice.
-Coordinate patient flow and support efficient clinical operations and quality patient care.
-Perform Medical Assistant responsibilities including rooming patients, obtaining medical histories, documenting vital signs, and preparing patients for examinations and procedures.
-Assist with complex office-based procedures and support quality control initiatives.
-Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members to ensure effective workflow and coverage.
-Serve as a mentor, trainer, and preceptor for new hires, students, and onboarding staff.
-Participate in interviewing, competency assessments, and performance feedback for Medical Assistant staff.
-Create and maintain MA coverage schedules to support operational needs.
-Facilitate communication between providers, clinical staff, and leadership to support continuity of care and operational efficiency.
-Support implementation of clinical initiatives, workflow improvements, and resolution of operational or clinical concerns.
-Promote a collaborative team environment and maintain compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required
Experience
Minimum of 3–5 years of Medical Assistant experience required
Prior leadership, supervisory, or lead experience preferred
Experience in Sports Medicine, Orthopedics, or an ambulatory care setting preferred
Certifications
Certified Medical Assistant certification required
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained within organizational guidelines

We are currently hiring a full-time, 40-hour Lead Medical Assistant to work on site Monday-Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm (with some flexibility)! Our Lead Medical Assistant plays a vital role in providing high-quality care to our Sports Medicine patients.
